Beltaine

Over a hundred people gathered in forest of Gerton, North Carolina, to honor the earth by circling a May pole, crowning a King and Queen, building twin fires, singing, drumming and dancing through the day and well into the night. This celebration, inspired by a historically Gaelic festival, marks the beginning of the Celtic summer, a time when sunlight lengthens and days grow progressively longer. Beltaine is a time to rejoice, feast, to recognize and give thanks for all that the earth provides.

The May Pole.

Maidens wait to catch the bouquet and become the new May Queen.

 Circling, circling, circling...

Binding the Queen to her sisters.
